Parts Washers FAQS

What should you consider before purchasing a parts washer?
  1. Types of soils to be removed
  2. Current cleaning method used.
  3. Materials from which your parts are manufactured.
  4. Size, weight, configuration, and quantity of the parts to be cleaned per day.
  5. Operations immediately before and after cleaning. (e.g. “machine before/paint after.”)
  6. Preferred method of handling: Manual or Automatic.
  7. Single or multi-step cleaning required.
  8. Type of cleaning fluid: Solvent or Water-based.
  9. Budget
  • Solvent based cleaning is Ideal for cleaning of metal, plastics, and painted surfaces. Grease, motor oil, cutting oil and water soluble oils are removed with ease. Use of Graymills’ Agitene line of products is recommended.
  • Aqueous cleaning is ideal for cleaning can be used for removing virtually any organic or inorganic soil, including greases, oils, soft carbons, epoxies, hard water residue, corrosion, oxides, paints, plating salts, rust, and smut. Use of Graymills’ Aquatene water-based cleaners is recommended, and they work most effectively when heated and require only a water rinse
  • Reduces labor time
  • Makes for a safe work environment
  • Increases lifetime of equipment and parts
  • Saves money

Ultrasonic cleaning uses ultrasonic energy in an immersion cleaning tank to assist in the removal of tenacious or stubborn soils from parts. An ultrasonic system always consists of at least three main components:

  1. A tank to hold the cleaning fluid and the dirty parts
  2. A generator to transform the line voltage into an ultrasonic signal
  3. Transducers to convert the ultrasonic electrical signal into mechanical energy

Immersion cleaning is a process by which the parts to be cleaned are placed in the cleaning solution to come in contact with the entire surface of the parts. It is the most effective degreasing method, even if not the fastest one.

Ink Pumps & Tank Systems

What kinds of Ink Pumps are used in the Printing Industry?

Whether you are wide-web, mid-web, narrow web, envelope or corrugated, you’ll find a pump or total system that fits your needs. Pumping from a 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 30 or 55 gallon container – Graymills has the right length, lid and container (metric lengths and lids are also available.)

Stainless Steel filter cartridges are available in four different mesh screens recommended for the following applications:

    • Corrugated printing: 30 mesh (590 micron)
    • Line printing: 60 mesh (250 micron) or 100 mesh (149 micron)
    • Process printing: 60 mesh (250 micron) or 100 mesh (149 micron)
    • Varnishes, coatings, adhesives: 150 mesh (99 micron) or 250 mesh (58 micron)

Industrial Pumps

What are the different types of Industrial Pumps?

The more data you can identify, the more quickly and precisely an appropriate pump can be specified. Factors include:

    1. Maximum flow required (GPM)
    2. Maximum pressure required
    3. Description of the proposed piping installation. (Pipe diameter, height to which liquid will be pumped, number of fittings, total piping length).
    4. Type of liquid being pumped (Water, acid, slurry, etc.)
    5. Mounting/installation requirements.
    6. Voltage, hertz and phase
  • Pumps and Pumping Units are available with motors of all standard electrical characteristics. The most commonly used types are listed below with their Graymills Suffix. Other types of motors will be quoted upon request.
  • After selecting the pump desired, select the type of motor with your required electrical characteristics. All Graymills pump motors are rated for 60 Hz operation and will operate continuously within plus or minus 5% of the rated voltage. Air motors are available for many models.
  • Add the suffix letter to the base model number and also state voltage, hertz and phase when ordering.
